Innova was named one of 12 semifinalists for the 2017 James Tyree Emerging Business Leadership Award. The company was also selected to be one of the final six during a live vote pitch contest on April 12, 2017.
The field was further narrowed to three finalists later in April. With the three finalists’ one-on-ones with judges now complete, the finalists have made appearances on “Wintrust Business Lunch” on WGN Radio hosted by judge Steve Bertrand.
Innova EV Founder and CEO Roman Kuropas commented on the award program, “Getting involved in the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce through the Tyree Award competition has been an amazing experience. The award is a true inspiration because of Mr. Tyree's passion for doing the best for the community — especially for the ones who need it the most. I have gotten to know a number of other local entrepreneurs leading innovative and civic-minded organizations. Chamber leadership has been so kind as to make introductions and open doors for us to share our story. This competition is more than an award — it’s an opportunity to make connections with other leaders in local business and government, and lay the foundation for future partnerships.”
2017 marks the sixth year of the award program, which began in honor of the late James Tyree, former CEO of Mesirow Financial. The competition was designed to honor fast-growing businesses with strong philanthropic values, much like Tyree himself who served on numerous boards and valued civic responsibility. The winner each year receives a $50,000 prize courtesy of Mesirow Financial and The PrivateBank.
